One year ago today, I left for the greatest adventure of my life.
I had never left the U.S. without my parents. But then again, there's a lot of things I had never done.
I had never driven a stick shift van around Managua at rush hour.
I had never taught an exercise class in Spanish.
I had never climbed, or even seen, an active volcano.
I had never lived with ten other people at once.
And I had never known the beauty and adventure that life in Nicaragua offered me.
I can't sum up what I feel about this experience (although I attempted to in my previous post) because it has entirely changed and shaped my life for the better. All I can do know is begin with my mountain of thank-yous.
NOW FOR MY CHELES: Susan, Jackie, Andrew, Lou, Carol, Madi, Matt, Arthur, and Bee
Thank you.
Thank you for your endless support, help, advice, love and friendship. Thank you for never letting me forget the chicken. Thank you for always wondering how a human could sleep nearly as much as I did (and still do, let's be real). Thank you for forgiving me when I watched Game of Thrones instead of helping plan Girls Health. Thank you for taking endless pictures of me by the pool until we got the perfect one. Thank you for using my computer charger to kill a bug. Thank you for "hitting" Roscoe every day (gotta love routine). Thank for teaching me to paint my nails when I need to calm down. Thank you for teaching me my strengths, weaknesses, and overall value.
It all contributed to one of the best years of my life. And I know sometimes we had no idea how we could survive another day with each other; when the water jug was empty and no one had changed it, or the pool was green again, or we ran out of veggies by Tuesday.
I don't care how few and far between our conversations are, please reach out anytime. I love ya'll.
Kick ass and keep in touch.
